Just 550 metres from Windermere Railway Station, in the town centre, the Hideaway at Windermere provides modern bed and breakfast accommodation. The guest house offers stylish rooms and British food.
A family-run guest house, the Hideaway is a blend of old and new, with renovated rooms and original Victorian features, including ornate stone window frames and period tilework in the hall. The hotel has a lounge and garden.
A full English breakfast is available daily and is cooked to order. A buffet is also available. The restaurant is open for dinner Friday to Sunday, and serves a mix of traditional local dishes and modern British cuisine. Afternoon tea is also available.
The Hideaway is a 30-minute walk from Bowness, and various local walks to Lake Windermere itself and other destinations, start from Windermere village. By car, Ambleside is a 10-minute drive away, and Kendal is 15 minutes away.

Travel information
- Leave the M6 motorway at junction 36 and follow the signs for Windermere (the road is dual carriageway for most of the way).
- As you enter Windermere, you will pass the Windermere Hotel on the right (raised on the hillside). Do not turn left into Windermere village, but continue on the main road, passing the NatWest Bank and a row of shops on the left-hand side.
- Continue on past the next turning on your left (Elleray Road), and take the next turning on the left, which is Phoenix Way.
- The Hideaway At Windermere is on the right-hand side.
By Train:
Transfer from mainline trains at Oxenholme train station, where you will find direct trains to Windermere. Taxis are generally readily available at Windermere train station, or alternatively, the Hideaway At Windermere is approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the station.

Please note that The Hideaway has a strict non-smoking policy. Guests will be asked to vacate the room immediately if evidence of smoking is found, and a minimum charge of GBP 200.00 will be applied to the credit/debit card used to make the reservation, to cover all additional cleaning and dry cleaning costs.
Bookings for 3 rooms or more cannot be accepted.
