Beamish - This open air museum gives visitors the opportunity to experience life in the North East throughout the 1800s and early 1900s. Winner of both the British Museum of the Year and European Museum of the Year.
Newcastle & Gateshead - Home to The Baltic, The Sage and The Millennium Bridge which are not to be missed, and the host of a wide range of arts, music, culture and comedy events throughout the year. From: AI SOUTH - FROM CHESTER-LE-STREET.
Exit the A1 at Chester le Street Junction 63, and take the A693 to Stanley. At roundabout exit for A6076 to Gateshead. The hotel is 2 miles on the right hand side, behind the Causey Arch Public House.
DIRECTIONS FROM AI NORTH & A69 (SCOTLAND)
If coming from Scotland join the A1 South when sign-posted. Following the A1, cross over the River Tyne. Take slip road sign-posted A692 Consett, continue on this road for 2 miles until you come into Sunniside. Take A6076 to Stanley (left at main traffic lights), continue 3 miles, the hotel is situated on the left-hand side, behind the Causey Arch public House.
