Pevensey Bay was the site upon which William the Conqueror first landed in England, and historic Pevensey Castle is just 5 minutes’ drive away. Eastbourne’s lovely pier is a 5-minute drive, while the Napoleonic Martello Tower is 10 minutes’ walk.

A carvery is available on Sundays from 12:00 until 15:00 and the full menu from 15:00 until 21:00.

Pevensey Bay makes an ideal place to stay if you plan to explore the area, as it is a short distance from Eastbourne and has excellent road links to the rest of the county.

Pevensey village is just 4 miles from the sea and is part of the Cinque Ports, a group of towns that pledged to supply men and ships to fight against invasion. The area was renowned for smuggling.

Pevensey Castle (1 mile) is one of 9 forts that stood defending the south coast against Saxon Invaders and stands on the site of the old Roman fort where William the Conqueror camped before the Battle of Hastings.

Other attractions include the Napoleonic Martello Towers and Plumpton Race Course as well at the Herstmonceux Science Museum, Eastbourne Golfing Park, Langney Shopping Centre and a Miniature Steam Railway.

- From the A27 follow signs to Pevensey.
- Follow signs to Pevensey Bay, the A259 and then Wallsend Road.
- The hotel is situated on the corner of Richmond Road at the traffic lights.
